Health and Triathlon

I am a believer of maintaining good health. If I am to do world changing work then it’d be treasonous to sacrifise my health.

I also believe that over-optimizing for health is a bit silly. I feel that Wisdom is really a dimensionality reduction on the complexity of the world. Elite engineers don’t store more in the brain in terms of volume, but rather, better abstractions and mental models of a codebase. Health advice, then, also mustn’t be larger in volume but rather a dimensionality reduction over healthy ppl’s habits.

Here’s my attempt at a PCA of health and my attempt at following it.

A Four Dimensional Ruleset

These activities make me feel good (prehaps do more?!)

  • running, biking, swimming, lifting
  • deep and lengthy sleep
  • eating lots of fruits and vegetables
  • drinking lots of water

These make me sad (avoid!!)

  • sugary drinks, processed, fried foods
  • staying up late
  • dopamine spiking content
  • any kind of stimulant/depressant drug
